US Secret Service Declares' Biggest Failure In Decade'
KIMBERLY CHEATLE

Director of the United States Secret Service claims responsibility.

The Director of the US Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, claimed responsibility for the mishap in the work of the special service, due to which it was not possible to prevent the assassination attempt on presidential candidate Donald Trump.

DW reported.

“The honorable mission of the Secret Service is to protect the leaders of our country. We failed on July 13. As the director of the United States Secret Service, I take full responsibility for any security lapse,” she said during a hearing before the the House Judiciary Committee.

Cheatle said the July 13 attack on Trump was “the Secret Service's most significant operational failure in decades.” She also promised that the service would make every effort to prevent this from happening again.

It is noted that several members of the committee, including both Republicans and Democrats, called on the head of the special service to resign. At the same time, it came under even more criticism after refusing to provide specific details of the assassination attempt.

Republican James Comer noted that the Secret Service “has become the face of incompetence,” and Democrat Jamie Raskin said that Cheatle “lost the confidence of Congress at a very important and crucial moment in the history of the country.”
