New details of the Toyota Land Cruiser explosion.

In the morning of July 24, a car exploded in the parking lot of a residential building on Sinyavinskaya Street in Moscow as a result of detonation of an unidentified object, said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.

According to Kommersant, a 49-year-old GRU major and his wife were inside the Toyota Land Cruiser car. The name of the military man is Andrei Torgashov, writes the telegram channel of ‘MK: Urgent News’. He holds the position of deputy chief of the satellite communications centre of military unit 33790, stationed in Moscow region, the Astra telegram channel claims.

According to preliminary data, the TNT equivalent of the detonated explosive device was half a kilo, says Kommersant. According to Baza, the military man's feet were torn off, while his wife suffered facial injuries. They were both hospitalised in the Botkin hospital. The officer is in an extremely serious condition in the hospital.

According to a RIA Novosti source in law enforcement agencies, one of the versions of the explosion is a ‘career-related assassination attempt’. A case has been opened under Articles 30 and 105 of the Criminal Code - attempted murder, but it may later be reclassified as a terrorist act, Kommersant reported.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) Alexander Bastrykin instructed to put the case under control in the central office of the agency. Investigators and criminalists of the Moscow Investigative Committee together with operational services are examining the scene of the incident. In the near future, medical and explosion-technical expertise will be appointed.
