Belarusians Suspecting Something?

Individuals do not want to change dollars.

National Bank of Belarus has released data on the purchase and sale of foreign currency in the domestic market by individuals and legal entities, residents of our country.

According to the National Bank, in the first month of summer, Belarusians sold $76.6 million more foreign currency than they bought: $1.0042 billion against $927.6 million, writes myfin.

At that, the individuals were less willing to sell foreign currency in June than a month earlier: the volume decreased by almost $47 million. At the same time, the purchase decreased by only $5.5 million.

In total, in the first half of the year, individuals purchased foreign currency for $5.3267 billion, while sold it for $5.8675 billion. The difference amounted to $540.8 million.

In contrast, economic entities, residents of Belarus, remained net buyers of foreign currency: they bought $254 million more than sold in June ($2.476 billion against $2.222 billion).

In the first six months of the year, the purchase of foreign currency by legal entities exceeded its sale by $1.295 billion ($14.22 billion vs. $12.924 billion).
