The Guardian: Invasion Of Kursk Region By AFU Is Only First Stage

Ukrainians take up to 150 Russians prisoner every day.

The invasion in Russia's Kursk region is only the first of ‘several stages’ of the AFU operation. Oleksiy Drozdenko, head of the Sumy city military administration, said this to The Guardian, sharing some previously unknown details of the Ukrainian invasion.

Drozdenko told the publication that he was directly involved in the planning of the operation and was part of a narrow trusted circle of initiates. He said he could not reveal much about the preparations for the invasion because it was only the first stage of the operation.

‘We see only part of this operation, we are going to witness several more stages in the future,’ Drozdenko said.

He also reported that the AFU sometimes take ‘100-150 prisoners of war’ a day, many of them are young conscripts who do not want to fight.

In addition, he said that hospitals in Sumy were preparing to take many wounded after the invasion began, but the operation resulted in unexpectedly few casualties.

‘There were only 15 casualties on the first day of the operation. Sixty, seventy per cent of them were very light, caused by bomb damage, shrapnel,’ he added.
