US Senator from Arizona Mark Kelly said that Ukraine's decision to resist the Russian invasion by attacking Russia could change the course of this war.

“130,000 Russians have been forced to flee their homes, and at this stage of this conflict, I think the Ukrainians have done something unpredictable that could really change the course of this conflict,” Kelly said during a speech on the Face the Nation show.

Answering the question of whether he is satisfied with the fact that American weapons are now used on the territory of the Russian Federation, Kelly noted that at the moment "he does not mind".

"Since the invasion, that is, for more than two years, we periodically, as you know, overestimate how we are going to behave with regard to the use by Ukrainians of the security assistance we provide them. And I think it's appropriate to continue to study their needs,” he added.

The senator also noted that Ukraine's offensive should teach Russians that dictator Vladimir Putin is not the incomparable defender he portrays himself to be.

“He always tried to describe himself as someone who was going to protect Russia. I think its citizens are seeing the results of what it has done in Ukraine, and now they are in some danger,” Kelly said.
