The Washington Post: Kursk Region Residents Addressing Putin

And are asking him to stop the war.

Trapped Russians in the Ukrainian-controlled Russian town of Sudzha in Kursk Region are wondering what to do next. They thank the AFU soldiers for their good attitude and ask for a ‘peace agreement’, The Washington Post reports.

It is noted that the publication's reporters visited the captured territory and saw no evidence that the Ukrainian military were looting or attacking civilians.

‘The way Ukrainian troops are acting in the territory and seemingly treating the people who live there reinforces official claims that Ukraine views the goal of its offensive not as conquest for long-term annexation, but rather as a negotiating tactic... The invasion is seen by the forces on the ground, and by many people across Ukraine, as a vital tactic to prevent Putin from trying to freeze the war to Ukraine's detriment,’ the article reads.

Russians interviewed in Sudzha said they have been treated well and do not know of any residents killed, but they still want their town back under Russian control. Despite the war raging right near the border with Ukraine, they never even imagined it would reach them.

‘We didn't even think about it,’ one of the Russian women said.

Another one asked Putin to come to an agreement with Zelensky, as they all want to go home, and ‘that everything be resolved in a good way’.

‘We want peace and harmony. We don't want anything else; we don't care for anything else. Please help us,’ another Russian woman spoke out.
