Turkey has blocked access to the Instagram social network. The reasons and duration of the ban is not yet called.
This is reported by Reuters.
The information technology regulator announced this on Friday, August 2, without specifying the reason or duration of the ban, which also made the platform's mobile application inaccessible.
According to the publication, the step was taken after comments made by the head of the communications directorate of the Turkish presidential administration, Fahrettin Altun, on Wednesday, July 31.
He criticised the platform for its decision to block the publication of messages of condolence over the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the radical Palestinian Hamas movement.
"It's censorship, pure and simple," Altun said, adding that Instagram did not refer to a policy violation in its actions.
There was no comment from Meta.
