ISW: Durov's Arrest Changes Situation For Russian Army In Ukraine

The occupiers are in a state of uncertainty.

Russian "milbloggers" has responded to the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov by French law enforcement. In their messages, they focused on how the Russian army relies on this messenger due to the lack of its own reliable communication lines, writes the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The sudden uncertainty about Telegram's future ability to operate in Russia and any disruptions in Telegram's operation, ISW believes, will likely affect Russian frontline operations, and in the event of a complete blockage, will worsen the operations of the Russian army soon.

And Telegram users from among the officers of the Russian army may begin to migrate from the messenger - in any case - due to the fear that the system will be compromised while Durov is under arrest in France (even if Telegram operations were allegedly or actually not affected by this event), ISW concluded.
