‘Artur Came Up With Offer To Work’

The Belarusian, who disappeared in Moscow, was found 310 kilometres from the Russian capital.

Volunteers have established the whereabouts of Aliaksandr Novak, a native of Smarhon, who went missing in Moscow (Russia) on August 12. This was reported by the Russian ‘Alternative’ movement, which fights against labour slavery.

Belarusian disappeared on August 12. That day, he was at the Belarus railway station of the Russian capital and was intending to go home. When Aliaksandr stopped getting in touch, his relatives sounded the alarm.

Aliaksandr was found at the police station in the Russian town of Mtsensk in Orel region of the Russian Federation. This is about 310 kilometres from Moscow. As it turned out, upon the end of the shift in Yakutsk, the Belarusian was not paid.

‘He managed to get to Moscow, and there he spent a few days at the railway station,’ said ‘Alternative’. ‘There, as it often happens, Artur came up to him with a proposal to work. Aliaksandr agreed to harvest potatoes for 3500 Russian rubles (125 Belarusian rubles. - Editor's note) per day. As a result, the man was brought to the house of a Roma family in Verkhovye, an urban-type settlement in Orel region. An amazing thing happened next: Artur found the labour force, but he was not able to organise work. So a few days later Aliaksandr was brought to the town of Mtsensk and left at a bus stop. During the time spent at Artur's place, Aliaksandr never started working, but he was beaten up there’.

Local residents, having learnt about the man's situation, helped him to call the police. As a result, Aliaksandr was put on a train to Moscow. There the man was met by volunteers from Alternativa and sent home.

Aliaksandr successfully returned to his home country.
