Politico: Ukraine Will Provide The US With List Of Targets In Russia For Long-Range Strikes

It will be more specific than the previous ones.

The Ukrainian authorities are preparing to present high-ranking US national security officials with a list of long-range targets in Russia that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can hit if Washington removes restrictions on the supply of American weapons.

Politico reported.

As the newspaper notes, Ukraine uses this list as another attempt to persuade Washington to lift restrictions on the use of American weapons against Russia. Although Ukraine has previously provided the US with some of its potential targets in Russia, this list is expected to be more specific.

According to three anonymous Politico sources familiar with Ukraine's actions, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov and the head of President Volodymyr Zelensky's office, Andriy Yermak, will visit Washington this week and plan to present a list of the administration during the talks.

The US has been saying for months that lifting the restrictions will not be of strategic importance in the war, as Russia has pushed its most important targets, including aviation, away from the border and made them unattainable.

But Kyiv has identified several important targets it can achieve with U.S.-provided missiles, the sources say. He hopes the list will strengthen the campaign to persuade President Joe Biden to change his mind.

"There should be no restrictions on the range of weapons for Ukraine, and terrorists do not have such restrictions," Zelensky said on August 26. “Defenders of life should not face any restrictions on weapons.”

The visit of Umerov and Yermak is being prepared against the background of the fact that Ukraine continues its offensive in the Kursk region and is trying to overcome the consequences of a massive missile strike by Moscow on its energy system on August 26.
