The Hill: Putin ‘Killed’, Mess In Kremlin

The former head of the Russian Federation is gone.

At the beginning of the Ukrainian army's offensive in Kursk region it may have seemed that it was a short-term operation, but now it is obvious that the AFU Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky has opened a new front, and Russia will not be able to regain control over the lost territories without withdrawing its troops from Ukraine and moving them to the Kursk direction.

This is stated in the article by The Hill.

The publication notes that the breakthrough of Ukrainian forces near Kursk undermined the morale of the Russian military and led to unrest inside the Kremlin.

‘Ukraine's dramatic invasion of Russia has changed the dynamics of the war and further exposed the Kremlin's weakness, punching another crack in an increasingly fragile monolith,’ the article says.

The question of whether the Kremlin regime will collapse appears again amid the events in Kursk region.

‘President Vladimir Putin, once so firmly in control, seems shaken, sleepwalking through the boring meetings he once commanded with menace and power. The threats of nuclear escalation, shirtless summer holidays in Siberia and bizarre speeches against the West have disappeared,’ the publication writes.

Analysts emphasise that the old Putin no longer exists.

The publication also notes Russia's economic problems related to the war.

‘The Russian government is under pressure. The central bank's key interest rate is 18 per cent and rising, but inflation is also on the rise, approaching 10 per cent. Generous government payments to families and pensioners of military personnel, as well as suspiciously expensive infrastructure projects and war-induced GDP growth of 3.2 per cent may help ease the pain, but they cannot mask the effect of tougher sanctions and the reality of shrinking central bank reserves,’ the reporters note.
