'It's Finished Off': Rostov-On-Don Submarine Destroyed In Crimea –Details

The revealing strike had two consequences for the Russian Federation.

After such operations of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, Russia will be afraid to repair ships in occupied Crimea.

On August 3, the General Staff reported that Ukraine sank the Rostov-on-Don submarine of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In terms of the ability of the Defence Forces to achieve results, this strike on temporarily occupied Crimea is not only about the defeat of the submarine of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation but also about the deprivation of the Russians of the repair base, said military expert, head of the Center for Military and Legal Studies Oleksandr Musienko.

On the air of the telethon, he noted that in fact the Rostov-on-Don submarine of the Russian fleet was finished off after it was hit and repaired in September 2023. Thus, the Ukrainian Defence Forces demonstrated to the enemy that they always achieve their goal.

“She was already finished off. I would define this blow as indicative due to the fact that what has been started has been completed – this is correct. We can officially say that it was destroyed. And this is very good news," Musienko emphasized.

After such operations of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, Russia will be afraid to repair ships in occupied Crimea.

"Secondly, I would also focus on the Sevastopol Shipyard. I have doubts that something will now be driven there for repairs. That is, it is indicative from the point of view of depriving the enemy of the repair capabilities of those boats that still remain," he added.

The expert noted that the Russian Federation began to import boats of such a project after the annexation of Crimea, and before that they were not there.

"These are diesel-electric submarines, they are just effective for a sea like the Black Sea. They performed tasks capable of carrying four Kalibr missiles, which they, respectively, fired," Musienko said.

It is noted that the occupied Sevastopol is the most convenient place for servicing and repairing the invaders' ships.

"Everything should be held in Novorossiysk – there are questions here. Therefore, from the point of view of depriving the Russians of the repair base, this is a very good story," he explained.

According to the expert, the Russians will try to raise the Rostov-on-Don submarine, but for the enemy this will be a very dangerous operation, since this territory will remain in the zone of defeat of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

“Of course, a submarine is less vulnerable when it's underwater and we can't reach it because there are no underwater drones yet. But when it is in the surface state, it can be hit," he concluded.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as a result of successful strikes by the Defence Forces of Ukraine on the temporarily occupied Crimea on the night of Friday, August 2, the Rostov-on-Don submarine of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation was hit in the port of Sevastopol. It sank on the spot.
