Battle Of Kursk: Ukrainian Forces Occupied Some Russian Settlements

The Ukrainian troops are advancing rapidly.

Since yesterday, Russian social medai have been reporting on the very rapid progress of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. Russian media report that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have occupied a number of settlements in the Sudzha district of the Kursk region. Local social media provided dozens of reports that the evacuation is not carried out, and local residents were left without communication and electricity. Focus understood what was happening in the Kursk region.

Russian social media channels report that the Ukrainian forces occupied the settlements of Nikolaevo-Daryino, Daryino and Sverdlikovo in the Sudzha district of the Kursk region.

ASTRA partially confirms this information, particularly that the Ukrainian troops are located in the village of Sverdlikovo.

"Guys, it's true that they penetrated into Sverdlikovo, I have relatives and a classmate there," says a resident of the Kursk region, whose identity and place of residence was confirmed by ASTRA, in a local chat.

Also, Russian social media channels report that "Ukrainian formations still managed to gain a foothold in the border zone, despite intensive strikes and attacks by Russian troops."

"To the south-east, the enemy was able to expand the control zone along the 38K-004 highway, moving towards the western suburb of Sudzha — Goncharovka. According to unconfirmed reports, fighting is underway in the village. The situation remains tense in the Oleshnya farm — there, Russian servicemen are almost surrounded by fierce battles with a numerically superior enemy," it is noted that the Ukrainian military allegedly has about 400 and they have weapons. In total, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine concentrated up to 2,000 troops along the border. It is not possible to confirm or verify this information, since in a number of settlements in the Kursk region there is no communication, including mobile communication.

Meanwhile, the number of publications is growing in Kursk social media and channels with a request to find and help evacuate relatives from the settlements, which, according to local residents, remained completely without communication — these are: Zaoleshenko, Lebedevka, Sverdlikovo and others.

The ASTRA edition notes, citing local residents, that there is no power, water and gas in the village of Sverdlikovo. They claim that the evacuation was not carried out, those who left did it in their own cars.

Reaction of the authorities of the Kursk region

The governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov, said that the authorities only "meet the population who leave the border areas." Also in his statement on August 6, he said that "the situation is under control" and urged "to remain calm" and "not to succumb to provocations."

And in the Kursk Ministry of Emergency Situations, they even denied that they sent messages about the evacuation of the local population and urged "not to believe the fakes."

Current Time notes that messages from the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation were edited during the day. So, at first, the Russian military department said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to break through the border, but Russian border guards prevented them, in the afternoon the Russian Defence Ministry already recognized that the military "continues to repel attacks", and by the evening the Kursk governor reported that three people died in the region as a result of Ukrainian attacks on Tuesday. By the end of the working day, the Russian MoD announced the retreat of the Ukrainian detachment – then this post was edited, removing the words about the retreat.

According to the Russian department, 300 Ukrainian troops, 11 tanks and 20 armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine participated in the battles on the border.

Reaction of the Ukrainian side

DeepState analysts, in turn, note that there will be no news about what is happening in the Kursk region. This is done for the security of the Defence Forces.

“We closely monitor events, keep in touch with some units and will provide information as honestly as possible, but when the time comes,” DeepState noted.
