Ukrainian Armed Forces Moved Another 10 Km Into Kursk Region Amidst Russian MoD’s Claims They Had Stopped Ukrainian Advance

Ukrainian forces captured a number of settlements.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to advance further into the Kursk region, despite the Russian Defense Ministry's announcement that the unexpected march of the Ukrainian troops had been stopped and that the enemy forces had been defeated.

By 18:00 Minsk time, having captured the settlements of Gornal, Guevo and Kurilovka, as well as part of Sudzha, the Ukrainian Armed Forces approached Korenevo, “Rybar” writes. As a result, the advance of Ukrainian troops reached 25 km from the border, notes military correspondent Yuriy Kotenok.

Thus, since the beginning of the day, when the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was estimated at 15 kilometers, they were able to advance another 10 kilometers into the Kursk region.

The Russian Defense Ministry, in a statement published around midday, claimed that “the enemy's advance in the Kursk direction has been prevented.” “Their reserves have been defeated in the areas of the settlements of Basivka, Zhuravka, Yunakivka, Bilovody, Kyanitsa, Korchakivka, Nova Sich, Pavlivka, and Horodyshche in the Sumy region,” the ministry's press release said.

Four hours later, at an emergency meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov repeated: “The enemy's advance deep into Russian territory in the Kursk direction has been stopped”. He assured that the operation in the Kursk region would end with the “defeat” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and “an exit to the state border”.

In reality, the situation in the Kursk region “continues to deteriorate”. In addition to advancing to Sudzha and seizing a Gazprom gas station for pumping to Europe, the Ukrainian Armed Forces “expanded the zone of control” in the northwestern section of the front. “The village of Leonidovo and the village of Lyubimovka have been occupied,” writes “Rybar”, adding that the Russian military's attempts to dislodge the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Zeleny Shlyakh farm have failed.

According to z-publics, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to capture about 40 Russian soldiers in Sudzha. “Unfortunately, the enemy's reconnaissance groups are penetrating further,” writes the “Two Majors” channel. According to them, the army is pulling reserves into the Kursk region, since “the enemy's invasion group turned out to be larger than expected”.
