Polish Foreign Minister Calls On EU Member States To Deprive Ukrainian Men Of Social Benefits
Radosław Sikorski

Kyiv supports Sikorsky's initiative.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called on Western European countries to reconsider approaches for helping Ukrainian men to encourage them to return to their homeland.

Sikorski said this at a panel discussion during the annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES), the correspondent of European Pravda reports.

Sikorski said that the current policy of many EU capitals harms the defence capability and economic stability of Ukraine, as it offers economic preferences for men of mobilization age.

The minister cited the example of Germany. "Now in Germany, Ukrainians who are under temporary protection there receive significant assistance," he explained, adding that according to his information, we are talking about payments exceeding 500 euros, and together with compensation for housing, we can talk about more than 1,000 euros per month per person, and this also applies to men. "Something similar in the Netherlands, I don't know for sure the amount in France," he said.

"There is a simple method to help Ukraine – stop helping Ukrainians who are subject to mobilization. Concealment from conscription is not a reason for financial assistance. Just stop paying them,” the Polish minister said, stressing that Poland does not provide such social support.

The initiative of the Polish minister has the support of Kyiv.
