A fire with a powerful detonation broke out in Toropets.

A fire broke out in Toropets in the Tver Region (Russian Federation) on the night of September 18. The drone attack and the work of air defence in the region caused the fire.

The Russian city of Toropets is located west of Tver and east of Belarus. The distance from the settlement to the border with Ukraine is about 488 km.

Drones hit a military base

According to the112 Telegram channel, a military base in the city of Toropets in the Tver Region was attacked by 6 drones, 3 of which were allegedly shot down by air defence, and the rest reached their target.

“After which a powerful fire and detonation began in the ammunition depots,” the message reads.

Updated: detonation may be at a warehouse with Grad rockets and mines

This morning, new footage of a fiery emergency in the Tver region appeared online. Firefighters are working at the scene.

Meanwhile, Russian media outlets note that military bases 54 169 TT and 11777 – former military base #55443 – are located in Toropets. Judging by the maps, Astra writes, the burning and detonating warehouses are located in the suburbs of Toropets, near the villages of Tsykarevo, Kudino and Zarechye.

And a representative of the South Ukrainian Volunteer Army and a representative of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, said on Telegram that the fire and detonation are happening at the 107th arsenal.

“Where ammunition was stored, including 122-mm rockets for the BM-21 Grad, 82-mm mines, cartridges, etc.,” he wrote.
