Belarusians of Warsaw marked the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.

On September 1, an event to honor the memory of its heroes and victims took place.

The event took place in the military Powązki, near the symbolic grave of the Belarusian general Stanisław Bułak-Bałachowicz.

The event began with a speech by priest Viachaslau Barok. Then the following person spoke: professor, doctor of historical sciences Ales Smalenchuk, leader of the solidarity movement "Razam" Viachaslau Siuchyk, one of the leaders of the "Młody Kresy" foundation Alherd Dabravolski.

After a minute of silence for all the heroes and victims of World War II and a prayer, flowers were laid at the symbolic grave of Bulak-Bałachowicz, candles were lit.

Along with the names of great Belarusians who fought, the names of political prisoners were also heard: Mikalai Statkevich, Henadz Drazdou, Ales Bialiatski.
