China Joins US Strike Against Russian Propaganda

One of its Belarusian branches has also been blocked.

China has joined the US strike against Kremlin propaganda. TikTok, a short video service owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has blocked dozens of accounts of the Russian state agency Sputnik and the RT International profile.

We are talking about the deletion of 37 accounts of the aforementioned propaganda resource, Radio Liberty reports.

In particular, Sputnik Serbia, Sputnik Armenia, and Sputnik Belarus were blocked.

When trying to go to these accounts, users see a notification about the impossibility of finding these profiles. Propagandists complain that the social media did not explain to them the reason for the blocking.

It is noteworthy that the blocking of propaganda accounts on TikTok occurred against the backdrop of new sanctions from Washington against the media group Russia Today, which includes the Sputnik agency.

The US Treasury Department announced these restrictions on September 13. As the department explained, this step is justified by the fact that the said media group spreads disinformation and interferes in the internal affairs of other states.
