Another Prison Sentence For Zmitser Dashkevich
ZMITSER DASHKEVICH

The activist was given an additional 1 year and 3 months in a maximum security penal colony.

The new sentence to well-known activist Zmitser Dashkevich became known to the public from family friends. He was given an additional 1 year and 3 months in a maximum security penal colony, Nasha Niva reports.

This time, Zmitser was charged with the “people's” Article 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order), as well as Part 1 of Article 411 of the Criminal Code (malicious disobedience to the demands of the colony administration).

The activist and his wife Nasta were accused of participating in a protest on August 23, 2020. On July 14, 2022, Zmitser was sentenced to 1.5 years in a penal colony, and Nasta got 3 years of “liberty restriction”.

The activist was supposed to be released from penal colony #14 after the end of his term on July 11, 2023. But immediately after his release, he was detained as part of a new criminal case under Article 411 of the Criminal Code. Judge Tatsiana Dzieravianka sentenced the political prisoner to another year in a maximum security penal colony. This May, a new criminal case was opened against him.
