From ‘Star’ To Occupant: Russian DiCaprio's Doppelganger's Look After Three Months At War In Ukraine

He became famous in 2016, starring on TV and in adverts.

Russian Roman Burtsev, known for his strong facial resemblance to American actor Leonardo DiCaprio, has been on the front lines fighting against Ukraine for three months. He gained fame in 2016, starring on TV and in adverts, but his popularity quickly faded, so he decided to go make blood money by killing Ukrainians.

Previously, a lot of tabloids were writing about the former programmer, who lived in Moscow, comparing him to the Hollywood star. Back then, Roman was dubbed ‘the fat Russian version of Leonardo DiCaprio’, but now, being a military man of the aggressor country, he has changed, La Tercera reports.

At the peak of his fame, Burtsev weighed 45 kilograms more than the star of ‘Titanic’ and was eight years younger than him. The Russian took advantage of the opportunity and received many offers to conduct photo shoots and attend business events. He was even offered to star in a special show. Burtsev was so keen on playing DiCaprio's doppelganger that he quit his job as a programmer. However, he was not enjoying popularity long. His career was derailed in 2020, when COVID hit the world.

Eventually, Burtsev got into debt, started overeating and gained a lot of weight. He worked part-time at the market and at a hardware shop, but there was still not enough money. In order to get out of the situation, the occupier took up arms and went to kill Ukrainians. The Russian admitted to propagandists that he was not afraid to go into battle because he knew what to expect.

On the front line, the occupant lost weight again and now resembles the Hollywood actor a bit more than he did in times of financial crisis in his family. Burtsev openly boasts in interviews with propagandists that he will return home only for holidays or after the end of the war.
