How did the current White House chief of staff react?
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has expressed hope that US President Donald Trump will be able to succeed in settling Russia's war against Ukraine. Zelensky said this on October 17 at a joint press conference with Trump in Washington, D.C.
The video was published on the White House's YouTube.
The media asked Zelensky what he thought was the biggest difference in diplomacy between Trump and his predecessor, 46th U.S. President Joe Biden.
Zelensky's answer was closely followed by Trump.
"President Trump has a big chance now to end this war [against Russia]. President Biden is not the president right now. So he has no chance to end this war," the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky said Trump "really showed the world" that he can achieve a ceasefire in the Middle East.
"And so I hope he will do it, and we will also have such a great success for Ukraine. It's a big chance. And I hope that President Trump can do it," the Ukrainian president emphasized.
Before the next media question, Zelensky complemented Trump.
"I would say the biggest difference is that one is extremely competent and the other is extremely incompetent," the current U.S. president pointed out.
