French Culture Minister: The Louvre Was Robbed In Four Minutes

The robbers were professionals.

The robbers took four minutes to remove jewelry from the Louvre, French Culture Minister Rachida Dati said on TF1 television.

"This operation took almost four minutes, they [the robbers] are professionals," she said, writes Le Figaro. Earlier, the country's interior minister Laurent Nunez said the robbery lasted seven minutes.

She also confirmed that one "piece of jewelry was found in the immediate vicinity of the museum." In addition, the minister called the stolen jewelry "priceless treasures" and noted that experts are "still carrying out the necessary procedures" to identify the stolen valuables.

The newspaper Le Parisien earlier reported that one of the stolen items, the crown of Emperor Napoleon III's wife Eugenie, was found broken near the museum building.
