Since the beginning of the year, Russian pork supplies to Belarus have increased by 44.6% and amounted to 94.3 thousand tons at the end of nine months, writes the site "Belarusians and the market".

This volume, as reported by Rosselkhoznadzor, is almost half of all Russian exports of pork this year. According to the agency, Russian producers shipped 205 thousand tons of meat to foreign markets in January-September, which is 35.6% more than in the same period last year.

Belarus is gradually catching up with China in the purchase of Russian pork. Shipments to this country have doubled and at the end of nine months with 55, 6 thousand tons it became the second largest importer.

It should be noted that recently Belarus was a major exporter of pork. However, the situation has changed. The main reason is called the epidemic of African plague in Belarusian pig farms. But the essence of why the problem turned out to be so large-scale lies elsewhere - in the management model.

At one time, officials relied on large commodity complexes concentrated on intensive production. But as a result, the virus penetrating into one or another farm instantly mowed down the huge herd, which sharply reduced the volume of pork and undermined export positions.
