Sikorski: Poland May Land A Plane With Putin On Board
Radoslaw Sikorski

In order to bring the suspect to the International Criminal Court.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has not ruled out that if Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin uses Polish airspace on his way to Budapest, the plane with him could be forcibly grounded.

The Polish minister's statement is quoted by TVP Info.

Sikorski said he could not guarantee that "an independent court will not oblige the Polish government to detain a plane with Vladimir Putin on board that ends up in Polish airspace in order to bring the suspect to the International Criminal Court."

Since February, a ban on Russian planes has been in effect throughout the European Union - a situation that has sparked speculation over which route Putin might take to reach Hungary.

When asked about this, Sikorski noted that Putin could get from Russia to Hungary, for example, through the airspace of Turkey, Montenegro and Serbia.

"And the fact that an EU member, which still has obligations to the International Criminal Court, invites President Putin to visit it is not only disgusting, but also shows that Hungary is positioning itself not as part of the West, but something between the West and Russia," the Polish minister added.

He recalled that "Hungary is not helping" by blocking support for Ukraine and constantly buying large amounts of Russian oil despite the possibility of acquiring it from other sources.
