In Shklou IK-17 In Shklou, Controllers Cut Off Prisoners' Scarves

Their length should not be more than 70 centimeters.

In penal colony 17 in Shklov, controllers have started to cut off scarves that come to prisoners in their packages, writes the mayday.team TV channel. This is due to the new requirements for scarves in the colony - their length should be no more than 70 cm and width no more than 30 cm.

According to the channel, controllers at the reception of transmissions measure the size of scarves and cut off the excess - such cases became known last week. They cut both ready-made factory products and cuts of fleece, which relatives recommend to use as a scarf.

A year ago in the colonies a scarf could be 160 cm long, since last spring a new rule was introduced - no more than a meter.

A former political prisoner who served time in the Shklou colony several years ago explained to "Mediazona" that there had been talks about reducing the allowable size to 70 cm earlier.

"The head of the regime did not like it very much if the scarf was allowed to wrap around the neck," he recalled.

It should be noted that political prisoners Vitold Ashurok (in 2021) and Valentin Shtermer (in 2025) died in Shklov.
