Like World War I.
In the Tula region, a chemical industry enterprise will deploy an aerostat defense system against drones. The tender for the supply of airships with netting was discovered by Daily Storm. According to the publication, this is the only such state order in Russia so far. The name of the company and details of the contract are not disclosed for security reasons.
The technology of balloon barriers was used back in World War I to protect cities from air strikes. The principle remains the same: a network is stretched in the sky between airships, only now - to intercept drones.
In the public sector such solutions are implemented with difficulty, including because of the cost.
The creation in Russia of a system of defense against drones from a network of hovering balloons was reported a year ago. It was named "Barrier." The developer claimed that the system had been tested at a test site and was capable of catching drones at a height of up to 300 meters, and one balloon can withstand a load of up to 30 kg. At the same time, some Ukrainian UAVs are much heavier. For example, the Lyuty drone weighs 250-300 kg, while the E-300 Enterprise weighs up to 540 kg.
