A U.S. UAV Was Spotted Over The Black Sea

The RQ-4B Global Hawk appeared over the southern part of the sea.

After a long hiatus, the US Air Force has resumed high-altitude drone reconnaissance missions over the Black Sea, signaling a resumption of American intelligence activities in one of Europe's most tense war zones, writes Defence Blog.

It is known that on October 25, a huge Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk drone, which operated under the call sign FORTE 10, was spotted conducting reconnaissance operations over the southern Black Sea.

The UAV flew from NATO's Sigonella Air Base in Sicily, Italy, which is the primary launch point for aerial reconnaissance missions in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region, according to flight tracking data.

"The RQ-4B Global Hawk is one of the U.S. Air Force's most powerful reconnaissance platforms. Manufactured by Northrop Grumman, this long-range drone can stay in the air for more than 30 hours and operate at altitudes of more than 60,000 feet (18,000 meters - note). Its suite of advanced electro-optical and radar sensors allows the aircraft to track movements and detect ground targets over large areas, providing real-time intelligence to US and allied commanders," the Defense Blog explained.

The publication recalled that during the early years of Ukraine's war, Global Hawk drones flew almost every day along the Black Sea coast, sometimes operating near occupied Crimea.
