The Kremlin is acting even more cold-bloodedly and cynically than before.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin can't conquer Ukraine, so he wants to destroy it by launching air strikes on the power grid, central heating and gas infrastructure before winter. His aim is to make large swathes of eastern Ukraine uninhabitable, undermine industry and provoke mass emigration and panic, writes The Economist.
"The Kremlin is acting even more cold-bloodedly and cynically than before. Days before Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky met, missiles and drones cut off the Ukrainian capital's water supply. For the first time, Kiev's subway was left without light. Attacks on frontline areas, such as Sumy and Chernihiv, left part of these regions without electricity for several days," - recalled in the material.
At the same time Ukraine has significantly improved its air defense, both in the interception of missiles and electronic warfare around important facilities. The publication emphasizes that the Ukrainians are expanding the use of new technology of intercepting drones, which is a serious achievement.
