What the Vatican hierarch said during his visit to our country.
The Pope's special envoy to the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Pinsk diocese, Cardinal Claudio Guggeroti, attended the Youth Jubilee in Brest on October 26. At the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, he delivered a catechesis for the youth and later a homily during Holy Mass, writes katolik.life.
The Vatican hierarch wished, "May the Lord God, to whom I entrust you, take care of you, bless you, give you the strength to live with hope."
He asked the young people to "spread the blessing" in the name of Pope Leo XIV to all those who are waiting for support, consolation and hope:
"Not only to people, but to the whole country, which should not feel isolated, rejected, forgotten by all. God loves everyone and wishes everyone to live in joy and happiness. This is also the wish of Catholics all over the world, addressed to you."
The cardinal asked to pray for the Pope, for peace and harmony in the world.
The cardinal urged officials in Belarus to "help the people to develop their best qualities."
The Pope's envoy appealed to all Belarusians and noted that "service to God is what should unite us."
He recalled the Catholic saint Andrei Babol, who was brutally murdered by Cossacks, and asked:
"Let us all be together who are followers and disciples of Christ. Let us work together so that the churches and churches, united, create a better future."
Cardinal Guđeroti expressed hope that one day the Pope will visit Belarus. Also during the sermon, the Vatican representative mentioned the Red Church, which has been closed for three years:
"I lived not far from the Red Church [when I was Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus], I know it's better not to mention this name, but I lived there nearby. And when I passed by it, went inside, there were always people praying not only during Mass, often by themselves, alone, often with tears in their eyes. These prayers are like the uplifted hands of Moses that ensure a good future for this people."
