The tests took place on October 21.
Russia has tested a Burevestnik intercontinental cruise missile on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, Reuters reported, citing Norwegian intelligence chief Vice Admiral Nils Andreas Stensønes.
"We can confirm that Russia has conducted new test launches of the long-range cruise missile Skyfall ("Storm Petrel" in NATO codification) on Novaya Zemlya," Stensønes said.
Novaya Zemlya (Arkhangelsk region) is home to the Central Test Site, where more than a hundred nuclear tests were conducted between 1954 and 1990, accounting for 94 percent of the power of all nuclear explosions carried out by the USSR. In 1961, the so-called "Tsar Bomba" or "Kuzkin's Mother" - an experimental aviation hydrogen bomb with a capacity of about 58 megatons in TNT equivalent - was tested there.
Russia has not conducted any nuclear tests since the collapse of the USSR.
