"Friendly fire" shot down a Russian Ka-52 helicopter, Z-channels wrote. This is at least the 17th such loss during the war, The Insider noted.
The day before, several Z-channels reported the loss of a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter along with its crew; it was initially believed that the helicopter was shot down by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.org/en/en/news/2025/10/27/660736/">was shot down by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
It later turned out that the helicopter was lost while repelling a Ukrainian drone raid on Russian territory, probably from "friendly fire":
"The Ka-52(52M) was shot down, unfortunately, not without losses in personnel. Shot down by their own, it seems that the fighter worked off. It is known that they mistook it for a UAV, apparently it was nearby, they just hit the wrong one, the incident and its causes are being dealt with."
This is at least the 17th known loss of Russian aircraft from "friendly fire" during the war, and only the second in 2025. A total of 12 airplanes and five helicopters have been lost this way.
