Trump Has Made A Definitive Statement About A Third Term In Office
Donald Trump

The President of the United States invoked the Constitution.

US President Donald Trump has ruled out trying to remain president for a third term.

According to The Hill, he said this in an interaction with the media aboard the presidential plane on his way to South Korea.

Trump said he has "the best numbers any president has ever had in many years," but the U.S. Constitution clearly states that he is not allowed to run a third time.

"If you read it, it's very clear. I'm not allowed to run. It's a very bad thing... But we have a lot of wonderful people," Donald Trump said.

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution states that no one can be elected president of the United States for more than two terms.

Trump also said this week that he would not run for vice president during the 2028 presidential campaign to stay in power.
