The AFU Liquidated A Russian Mercenary With A Belarusian Passport

He wasn't even at the front for five days.

"Flagstaff" has learned about another case of death of a Belarusian citizen in the Russian war against Ukraine. According to the source, 33-year-old Denis Safronov, who lived in the village of Ostashkovichi, Svetlogorsk district, did not stay at the front for five days - his charred corpse was returned home.

The story of Denis Safronov is typical for Belarusian mercenaries - he went to Russia to earn money, went to prison, then to the front. It was while in prison that the native of Svetlogorsk district was recruited for the war.

The fact that Safronov was convicted in Russia is confirmed by the documents published in the network. This is the only available information about the dead man.

The Belarusian, along with another native of Ostashkovichi, was convicted in March 2024 by the Dolgoprudny City Court of the Moscow region. The documents say that Safronov had a specialized secondary education, was not married, but had a minor child as a dependent, and worked as an electrician.

He was sentenced under part 3 of article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to 7 years 6 months of imprisonment with serving his sentence in a strict regime penal colony. The Belarusians were found guilty of robbery by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with the use of an object used as a weapon, with illegal entry into a dwelling.

The crime was committed on February 5, 2023 in Dolgoprudny, Moscow region. According to the investigation, the defendants came to the apartment of an acquaintance, hit him on the head with a bottle, then beat him up and stole two cell phones and a TV from the apartment, subsequently giving the items to a pawnshop.

Safronov disagreed with the verdict and filed a cassation appeal, believing that "the conclusion in the verdict about his sanity is not sufficiently substantiated, it was necessary to conduct an inpatient, not outpatient psychological and psychiatric examination, since he suffers from alcoholism, and had previously received repeated head injuries."

He claimed that the fight was provoked by the victim and he himself threatened with a knife. But the complaint was dismissed - this happened in June 2025. After that, probably, the Belarusian was sent to the colony, where he was recruited into the army.

Aknowledges of the deceased said that he was from a large family, his mother raised the children alone. After school, the man worked in a collective farm, then went to earn money in Moscow, where he was thrown for money. From prison he went to the war, called his mother and told her that he was at the front. Three days later it became known that he was killed.

The Belarusian was probably sent to the storm troopers, and he died. It happened in early September. The man was buried in the second half of October.
