Hungary Agreed To Ban LNG Supplies From Russia To The EU

The Hungarian government has agreed to ban supplies of Russian liquefied natural gas to the European Union.

According to the publication's sources, Hungary has agreed to change its previous position on banning LNG supplies from Russia to Europe.
It is noted that the main problem in agreeing on the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia still remains the positions of Slovakia and Austria.
EU's rejection of Russian energy resources
Recently, US President Donald Trump said that the United States is ready to impose "serious" sanctions against Russia - provided that NATO countries stop buying energy resources from Russia.

Cognizant that Hungary and Slovakia will try to block the new sanctions, the European Commission proposed to approve the new sanctions against Russia by collecting a majority of votes of the EU member states, rather than the traditional unanimous approval. So far, such a circumvention scheme applies only to Hungary.
