Hungary Agreed To Ban LNG Supplies From Russia To The EU

This paves the way for a new package of sanctions.

It is noted that the main problem in agreeing on the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia still remains the positions of Slovakia and Austria.

EU's rejection of Russian energy resources

Recently, US President Donald Trump said that the United States is ready to impose "serious" sanctions against Russia - provided that NATO countries stop buying energy resources from Russia.

It is also known that the European Commission will propose a complete ban on imports of Russian LNG until January 1, 2027 as part of the 19th package of sanctions. This is a year earlier than planned.

So far, such a circumvention scheme applies only to Hungary.
