Vilnius talked to the Americans, the dictator urgently announced negotiations.
Immediately after Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kiastutis Budrys met with future U.S. special envoy for Belarus John Cole and Secretary of State Mark Rubio, Lukashenko urgently ordered to start negotiations with Vilnius.
"Taking into account the appeal of the Lithuanian side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to organize negotiations on normalization of the situation and resumption of full-fledged functioning of checkpoints on the joint border - with the participation of Lithuanian authorized persons responsible for this direction," Lukashenko's press service said in a statement.
The fact that "interdepartmental coordination and other assistance" in the negotiations is very serious is evidenced by the fact that the State Secretary of the Security Council, Alexander Wolfovich, has been assigned to organize them.
The Lithuanian side in its appeal, which it intended to send to Minsk on Monday, expressed its intention to address Belarus only about the return of trucks.
