Germany's Dortmund has arrested a 49-year-old man suspected of creating a darknet platform that offered to assassinate politicians for a cryptocurrency reward, ABC reports.
The arrest warrant states that since at least June 2025, Martin S., who has German-Polish dual citizenship, allegedly ran an anonymous platform on the darknet. There he published lists of names of opponents and called for attacks against politicians and public officials, writes Tagesschau. In addition, Martin S. was a member of the "Citizens of the Reich" movement.
According to the prosecutor's office, the suspect posted "death sentences" on the site, as well as instructions for making explosive devices. The site, whose name translates to "assassination of a politician," was shut down by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).
"Citizens of the Reich" is a German revisionist movement founded by Wolfgang Gerhardt in 1985. The movement's supporters deny the existence of modern Germany as a state and do not recognize its laws and government. They believe that the Weimar constitution of 1919 is still legally valid, as are the borders of Germany during the Second Reich, the German Empire during the Hohenzollern rule.
