Lithuania Records A Record Number Of Illegal Migrants From Belarus

Nearly half of the attempts occurred in the last five days before the border closed.

Lithuania stopped a record number of attempts to migrate third-country nationals from the territory of Belarus in October - 275. This is written "Pozirk".

Almost half of the attempts (116, or 42%) were recorded in the last five days of the month, after Lithuania closed its border with Belarus due to an invasion of probes with smuggled cigarettes. On October 31, a record daily number of crossing attempts (63) was recorded for the last three years.

Together, neighboring EU countries recorded 3,271 attempts to cross the border from Belarus last month. This is 14.9% less than in September (3,844) and 47.9% more than in October 2024 (2,211).

In the first 10 months of 2025, 41,160 attempts to cross the border were stopped. This is 20.6% more than the same period last year (34,132) and 13.4% more than the entire year of 2024 (36,291).
