Duduzila Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, recruited men from that country and Botswana to join the army of aggressor country Russia in its war against Ukraine.
This was reported on November 19 by Bloomberg, citing its own sources.
Their information is that Zuma-Sambudla, with her status as a member of South Africa's parliament, recruited about 20 young men who traveled to Russia as early as July 2025. She assured them that they would "finish bodyguard training courses there" and in the future work in her father's party Umkonto ve Sizwe (Spear of the Nation - ed.), the agency was told by sources, among whom there are relatives of the recruited.
And Zuma's daughter told the recruits that she herself "took the same courses".
According to relatives of some of these young Africans, they signed military contracts written entirely in Russian, then were sent to the front in Ukraine and in August they were no longer in contact with them.
According to the agency, the daughter of former president Zuma was previously associated with Russian campaigns on social networks. Moreover, she published posts on social network X in support of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, showed her photos from a trip to Russian Federation, as well as pictures of her father with Putin.
