Robertas Kaunas traveled to Ukraine for the first time after his recent appointment to the post.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has met with Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas, who came to Ukraine for the first time after his recent appointment to the post. The Ukrainian leader said in his Telegram channel.

"We discussed Ukraine's defense needs and prospects for joint defense production. Also discussed the current diplomatic situation and the opportunities now available for a just end to the war," Zelensky wrote.

He expressed gratitude to President Gitanas Naousede and the entire Lithuanian people for their support "from the very beginning of the military conflict."

"I am also grateful for joining the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) initiative, which allows us to buy American weapons," Zelensky emphasized.

The day before, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kjastutis Budrys announced Vilnius' firm intention to support Ukraine for ten years after peace. Budrys emphasized the need for Europe to step up its support for Kiev. According to the minister, any peace talks cannot take place without the direct involvement of the EU and Ukraine.
