"Decoded" Challenger flight path over the Black Sea.

A U.S. Challenger reconnaissance plane described loops over the Black Sea, following a trajectory that has sparked speculation about what the Pentagon is looking for near Russia's borders.

The U.S. reconnaissance aircraft took off from a Romanian base in the early hours of Friday, November 21, and spent several hours describing short circles in international airspace as if tracking something, Daily Mail.

The flight data shows the plane approached about 100 kilometers near Russian-occupied Crimea before heading east toward Sochi, taking a route close to some of Russia's most secretive military installations.

Open-source trackers such as ADS-B Exchange have recorded the plane's path as it flew over Ukraine's northern flanks, off the coast of Romania and Bulgaria, and near the Georgian border.

Equipped with powerful ground-scanning radar and secret signal detection technology, the Challenger aircraft is designed to intercept communications and track troop movements in real time.

Its sudden appearance, replacing routine drone surveillance with a rare manned mission, has sparked talk that the US is preparing for a new escalation, and the timing was most ominous.

This week, Poland's top general warned that Russia had entered a full-scale phase of war preparations, saying Moscow was laying the groundwork for a possible strike on NATO territory.

Wieslaw Kukula said Russia was conducting cyberattacks and sabotage operations designed to "create favorable conditions for aggression on Polish territory."

A few hours later, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the railroad line between Warsaw and Lublin, one of the vital arteries through which Ukraine received Western aid, had been blown up in an "unprecedented act of sabotage."

Kukula warned that any Russian attack on Poland would immediately trigger Article 5 of the NATO Charter, leading to a collective response that could bring the world to the brink of World War III.

US Challenger reconnaissance aircraft - what is known

Challenger, a sleek business jet converted for military purposes, combines civilian poise with deadly curiosity.

This CL-600 variant, delivered in 2020 and modified by contractor Leidos, often referred to as ARTEMIS in prototypes, boasts server racks and sensors squeezed into its expanded cabin where passenger seats used to be.

His turbofan engines operate at altitudes of more than 12 kilometers, evading ground threats while simultaneously collecting data from hundreds of miles away. The aircraft, equipped with powerful ground-scanning radar and secret signal detection technology, is designed to intercept messages and track troop movements in real time.
