In Nigeria, Militants Kidnapped More Than 300 Female Students From A Catholic School

The country's president canceled a visit to the G20 summit.

As a result of an attack on a Catholic boarding school in western Nigeria, 303 female students and 12 teachers have been kidnapped from the educational institution. Such data was given by the Association of Christians of Nigeria on Saturday, November 22.

A group of armed men entered the educational institution in the locality of Papiri in Niger State on the night of November 21. The bandits shot dead a security guard and abducted those inside the building. Security forces are searching for the female students, writes German Wave.

Many Nigerian schools are closed for security reasons. In light of the tragedy, the country's President Bola Tinubu has canceled his participation in the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in South Africa's Johannesburg.

Only a few days earlier, bandits kidnapped 25 female students from a boarding school in Kebbi state in the northwest of the country, and another 38 people were abducted from a church in Kwara state in western Nigeria. In the latter case, the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of 100 million naira (about 60,000 euros) for each hostage.
