WP: Trump Didn't Get Into Details Of Peace Plan For Ukraine

Different parts of the White House don't understand what's going on.

US President Donald Trump has not delved into the details of a peace plan to resolve Russia's war against Ukraine, the Washington Post writes, citing a source among US officials.

"You tell him, 'I want to try to make a deal.' He'll say, 'Fine, go do it.' And that's the level of attention he's paying," the source said. There is "absolute chaos" in the administration, he added, and noted that even different parts of the White House don't know what's going on. In his view, the actions of special envoy Steve Whitkoff, who co-authored the peace initiative, took Washington by surprise.

The plan drawn up in the administration "was not considered immutable" and Kiev was told there was "room for negotiation," the interlocutor told WP. At the same time, Washington has made it clear that it wants a deal as soon as possible, and the threat of aid suspension is extremely serious.
