He flew into the country at night.
A Russian UAV without a combat unit was found in Romania near the borders with Ukraine and Moldova that flew into the country on the night of November 25; this is probably the "farthest" incursion of a Russian drone into Romania in the years of full-scale war.
This was reported by Defense Minister Jonutz Mosteanu.
The drone was spotted in the territory of Vaslui, which borders Moldova's western border and is quite far from Ukraine's borders.
The minister caught the news at the Mihail Cogelniceanu airbase, where he had come to celebrate Thanksgiving with the U.S. military.

- It was supposed to be a day of celebration, but now it's not a day for celebration. We have another Russian drone invasion, a new challenge from Russia for Romania. A drone that the Romanian military and the German Eurofighters tried to shoot down," said Mosteanu.
He said that he had literally just been informed about the find and only preliminary details were known - that it was somewhere in the territory of Vaslui and that it was a drone without a combat unit. The minister is therefore urgently returning to Bucharest to coordinate further action.

Mosteanu noted that the Romanian and German pilots who were alerted at night had permission to hit the drone, but decided not to fire on it - tentatively, because of the significant risk of collateral damage.
The minister added that Romania will soon have new capabilities in air defense that will help it better respond to such situations.
Added. Photos of a recovered UAV that looks like a Gerbera have appeared in the media. Eduard Popica, the prefect of Vaslui village, said he arrived at the site with police after a report from a local resident of Puesti village. It is 50 kilometers from Romania's border with Moldova and more than 100 kilometers from Moldova's border with Ukraine.
The prefect said the man called and said he heard a growing rumble and then a loud bang or explosion behind his house. When he went out into the yard, he saw the device broken into pieces.
It seems to be the most "distant" incursion of a Russian UAV into Romania - so far, all known cases have been recorded over the Romanian bank of the Danube, at most 10 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
