US Secretary of State Marco Rubio participated for the first time in a "coalition of the resolute" videoconference on Ukraine.
It was reported by The Guardian.
The French Elysee Palace said the US and the coalition had agreed to create a working group to strengthen negotiations on post-war security guarantees for Ukraine.
French leader Emmanuel Macron said the group would be led by France and Britain, with Turkish participation. In addition, the United States will be involved for the first time.
He said the aim of the working group was to "precisely define the contribution of each participant and finalize the agreement on security guarantees."
The UK and France have formed a "coalition of the resolute," taking a leading role in advancing peace efforts on Ukraine. It has been joined by states that are willing to provide military support or other resources to ensure security in Ukraine.
The coalition is supplying modern weapons, training the Ukrainian military and helping to rebuild Ukraine's infrastructure.
