Smolensk customs officers were detained on November 23 on suspicion of corruption, reported the press service of the Central Customs Administration of Russia.
The agency noted that a criminal group was operating at the Smolensk customs station. It included, among others, customs officers. For bribes "in large and especially large amounts" they illegally gave advantages to certain carriers "when importing tobacco products and car parts".
November 23, the activities of the organized criminal group was suppressed "with the force support of the customs SOBR".
