There Was A Shooting Near The White House

(updated) An unidentified man shot at the National Guard.

The shooting occurred in downtown Washington near the White House on the afternoon of November 26, The Washington Post reported, citing sources.

Three people were shot, including two members of the U.S. National Guard who were injured, the fire department said.

Police said one suspect was in custody. The scene has been cordoned off.

There is conflicting information about the condition of the National Guardsmen. West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey earlier reported that the National Guardsmen were dead. He later wrote that their condition was unclear.

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened serious consequences for the suspect in a shooting near the White House that wounded two National Guardsmen.

"The animal that inflicted gunshot wounds on two National Guardsmen <...> is also seriously wounded, but despite this, will pay a very heavy price," the US president said in a post on Truth Social.
