The logic is simple.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna believes that the actions of Russia and dictator Putin show no signs of peace coming to Ukraine anytime soon.
According to ERR.
"It seems to me that Putin smells blood in the air and this is a very favorable tactical moment for him. He is applying pressure as much as possible - on the frontline, on civilians, hitting infrastructure and energy facilities. No signs of peace are visible yet," the Estonian foreign minister said.
Tsahkna noted that Trump, on the contrary, is seeking to impose a peace agreement on Ukraine.
"And this process is incredibly public: all sorts of leaks, calls, offers and counter-offers. Such a barrage of information is very rare. And two: modern foreign policy is definitely not for people with weak nerves. We must remain absolutely calm and continue to defend our positions," the minister added.
Talking about the peace efforts, Tsahkna admitted that it is difficult to predict whether they will fail or not.
"The main message from the Ukrainians was that they want to maintain the attraction of President Trump and the United States. The logic is simple: it is possible to negotiate with the United States, but without the United States it is impossible to put pressure on Russia," he said.
He said that even if the United States, Ukraine and Europe reach some kind of plan, its essence should be that Putin will change his goals.
"But so far he does not show readiness for this and does not comment on the plan itself. That is why I believe that we are still far from peace," the minister emphasized.
