It is in recent months that the phenomenon has become widespread.
In the Liman direction, Russian military storms without helmets and body armor have been recorded, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to The Telegraph.
New footage from the Donetsk region's front line has appeared online, showing Russian soldiers storming Ukrainian positions without basic protection. Most of them die before reaching a forest belt or a trench.
The deputy commander of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion of the 66th Brigade, Igor Komok, said that the phenomenon has become widespread in recent months.
- Of the twenty battalions that recently went to the assault, only four had helmets," the officer said.
In recent days, the Ukrainian military has repelled dozens of attacks in the Liman direction. Russia is using infantry in large numbers, often under cover of drones or even on motorcycles, despite high casualties.
Dmytro Zhmaylo, director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, notes that the shortage of equipment is exacerbated by Russia's economic problems and inability to fully supply the front.
A number of testimonies indicate that commanders may use such "armor stripping" as punishment for not following orders. According to experts, some soldiers are sent into battle virtually "to the death", forcing them to retrieve weapons from the bodies of the dead.
Ukrainian fighters say that sometimes Russians are sent to the front line just to carry ammunition - such units call them "camels". Most of them die before they even have time to complete the task.
"They are simply used as expendable material," the military of the 66th brigade emphasize.
According to Komk, some of the attackers do not even know that they are heading straight for Ukrainian positions: the command assures them that there is supposedly no enemy ahead.
