Reuters: US Backs EU Plan To Use Frozen Russian Assets

The U.S. and its allies have frozen about $300 billion in sovereign Russian assets.
The United States has backed the European Union's intentions to use frozen Russian assets to end the war in Ukraine.
According to Reuters.
"Washington absolutely supports (the EU, - ed.) and the steps it is now taking to be able to use these assets as a tool," a knowledgeable source told the agency on condition of anonymity.
After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the United States and its allies froze about 300 billion In total, about 210 billion euros of Russian assets have been frozen in Europe.
Recently, Germany suggested that the drone violation of Belgian airspace was a "signal from Moscow" not to touch the frozen assets. Russia denied this, but promised a "painful response" if its assets were seized.
