Sobolenka Answered The Question About The Change Of Citizenship

The tennis player reminisced about the kids.

World number one in women's singles Arina Sobolenko has emphasized that she will never change her citizenship.

The Belarusian said that in such a case she would risk betraying the aspiring tennis players from her native country, who play the sport and look up to the four-time Grand Slam champion.

"I have always been proud and I am proud to represent such a small country as Belarus in competitions. I think it encourages kids in the country to play tennis. Changing citizenship is not my case. I don't want to cheat these kids from Belarus who look up to me. So I would like to continue to represent my country only for their sake," Sobolenko said encouragingly.

Arina added that it inspires her if she serves as an example for someone.

"I want everyone to see that a girl from a small country can achieve to play at a high level. For my example to inspire them. I hope it gives many people the confidence that they can also reach the world level," the tennis player added.
